How to Edit or Delete a Discussion

Editing a discussion forum gives you the ability to change the forum name and any other options.  Editing a discussion topic gives you the ability to reassign the topic to a different forum, rename the topic, and change the availability and locking options, restrictions, and assessment options.


To Edit a Discussion Forum or Topic

  1. On the navbar in your course, select "Communication" > "Discussions"

  2. On the Discussions List page, select the context menu (down arrow) of the forum or topic you want to edit and select "Edit Forum" or "Edit Topic.

  3. Make your changes.

  4. Select "Save and Close."

To Delete a Discussion Forum, Topic, Thread, or Post

Important: When you delete a post, any replies to that post are also deleted.

  1. On the navbar in your course, select "Communication" > "Discussions"

  2. On the Discussions List page, click the context menu of the forum, topic, thread or post you want to delete and click "Delete", "Delete Thread", or "Delete Post."

  3. To confirm the deletion, Select "Yes."
