Literary & Cultural Studies

This minor lets you focus on literature and its relationship to culture. Our faculty specialize in literature across English and American history, and we study everything from the classics to film and TV to manga and graphic novels. As a literary studies minor, you'll sharpen your reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, and have the opportunity to think about and discuss enduring questions about humanity.

Hands-On Experience

  • Our student literary magazine, The Vehicle, offers students the opportunity to work on the staff of a literary magazine and to publish their writing
  • Internship in English is optional but open to all English minors, and our dedicated internship coordinator can work with you to find a placement and support you throughout the experience
  • English minors are welcome to present at our annual student conference to present the best work they've done in their English classes, practicing valuable professional communication skills
