Why Study Broadcast Journalism at EIU?

  • We provide students with a thorough grounding in journalistic principles and practices.
  • We emphasize the full range of broadcast skills, from gathering information and writing stories to shooting, editing, anchoring, and on-air reporting.
  • Students can get started working in student media on day one with no class or semester barriers to participation. This allows students to become more skilled and build strong portfolios needed to get jobs in broadcasting.
  • Students can easily double-major throughout the School of Communication, Journalism & Theatre.
"From the second I walked onto this campus, EIU felt like home. I REALLY struggled with the fact that I'd be leaving my brother and my parents, and wanted nothing more than a place that felt like home. With the incredible staff we met along the way, the top-notch broadcasting facilities offered here, AND the impressive residential hall spaces- coming here to EIU was a no-brainer, and the best decision I ever made."
