Music: Jazz Studies

The Jazz Studies program offers a comprehensive study of jazz music through academic and performance experiences. Classroom instruction in improvisation, history, and composing and arranging provide a deep knowledge of the discipline. Students rehearse and perform in big bands and combos with several performances per semester.

What You'll Learn

Students in the jazz studies program will learn standard repertoire in the jazz field, theory and methodology for improvising, and a broad history of jazz. Through one-on-one work with world-class faculty musicians and teachers, students will develop their voice on top of a solid, rigorous foundation of jazz study.
