EIU Music Ensemble Previews

Panther Marching Band

This video clip features segments of the Panther Marching Band Live in Concert in October, 2020 at the Mellin Steps outside the Doudna Fine Arts Center.  Segments include the PMB Color Guard performing to "Runaway Baby" and the Color Guard, Pink Panthers and Cheerleaders performing to the "Panther War Chant" and the "EIU Fight Song."  Panther Marching Band meets MWF during the fall semester.  Contact David G. “Blues on Sunday” by Joshua Redman featuring August Frisby, tenor saxophone; Addie Gladu, piano; Eliot Crispin, bass; and Preston Rice, drums--performed in the Black Box Theatre on October 20, 2020. 

Jazz Combos are open to students with experience in jazz improvisation.  ​Combos rehearse twice each week and perform regularly on campus and in the community. ​ Contact Paul Johnston for additional information.

Eastern Symphony Orchestra

 

Haley Fryer, MA '20, performs Gaetano Donizetti's "Quel Guardo Il Cavaliere" with The Eastern Symphonic Orchestra on February 23rd, 2020 at Eastern Illinois University's Doudna Fine Arts Center.

 

Wind Symphony

 

The EIU Wind Symphony performs "American Fanfare" by Jim Stephenson.  For additional information on EIU Concert Band, contact Alicia Neal.

Musical Theatre/Opera performs with EIU Dancers

 

View highlights from Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicci performed by Department of Music students & the EIU Dancers. The opera  was sung in its original Italian and interpreted through dance for the audience by the EIU dancers.  This unique collaboration brought to life this opera in a way never before seen.

Faculty Teaching Demonstration Videos:

asdf In this video clip, students in the Basic Conducting Class practice conducting in preparation for their Holst Conducting Exam the following week. Each student in the class conducted a run-through of a short, pre-assigned excerpt. Then, each student receives comments and constructive criticisms from their peers and from Dr. Neal to help them frame their practice sessions as they prepare for the exam.
