EMC Choir Camp
The Choir Camp is open to students completing the 5th through 12th grades. This camp is designed to meet the needs of those students who are interested in singing choral music, providing an instructional and educational experience for both beginners and more advanced students in a collaborative, supportive and interactive environment. Students will perform a wide variety of choral compositions by significant composers from early classics to notable contemporary works.
Vocal Placement
While Choir Camp singers do not audition, they do have a vocal placement on registration day. Singers will be checked for vocal range, timbre, and sight-reading skills. No one should worry about the vocal placement. It is designed to make sure singers are placed on the choral part that is best for their vocal production.
Talent Show
There will be an audition for the Talent Show (an accompanist will be provided)!
Classes
Campers may choose from several workshops and clinics. Topics may include the following:
About the Choir Camp Director
Rebecca Carmack-Regennitter attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and received a Bachelor of Music degree in Theory and Composition, followed by two years of teaching voice and piano from her home studio. She then attended Eastern Illinois University and received a Master of Arts degree in Choral and Orchestral Conducting under the instruction of Dr. Richard Robert Rossi. Following graduation, she spent five years as Director of Music and Performing Arts Coordinator at Lincoln Trail College where she supervised the department, conducted choirs, taught voice lessons, theory, and various fine arts general education courses. She most recently ventured into the church music world and currently serves as Director of Liturgical Music at St. Mary’s parish in Minooka, IL. Over the years, she has spent a great deal of time on the Dvorak stage as a choir member, soprano soloist, and conductor and always enjoys returning to EIU. Once an EMC camper herself, she is thrilled to be conducting the EMC choir for a third time!
