Catering Supervisor
Panther Dining is a division within Student Affairs that operates two residential dining centers, a food court, Panther Catering, a C-Store (Thomas Marketplace) and a coffee shop (Java B&B). We serve the EIU campus community and its guests with high-quality, efficient, and innovative dining options in a variety of settings. We add value to our customer’s on-campus experience by providing welcoming and inclusive dining facilities, high-quality food, and experienced and professional staff who care about those they serve and enjoy the relationships they build.
Our goal is to recruit and build a talented food service team here at EIU. We are seeking individuals that have a passion for food services, enjoy working with people and are looking for a place to use and enhance their management skills. Working in food service offers many opportunities for advancement of your career.
Primary responsibilities of the position include:
· Event management which includes scheduling staff, making equipment arrangements, set up and tear down as well as monitoring quality of food.
· Ordering food, supplies, linens and tracking inventory.
· Schedule and supervise full time, part time and student workers.
· Work with customers to discuss plans for events and coordinate with appropriate non-catering personnel to ensure the event is a success.
· Use CBORD software to schedule events, plan menus and print contracts and event sheets.
· Oversee food quality and handling before serving as well as customer service for the events.
· General paperwork including contracts, invoices and billing.
· Payroll for Panther Catering and Java B&B
· Oversee day to day operations in Java B&B.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years (24 months) of responsible work experience in food service that includes event planning within a catering environment.
Salary: $20.00-21.50 / hour
In addition to the salary listed above, this full-time position offers an excellent benefits package, including competitive employee insurance premiums as well as flexible options for medical coverage. Vision insurance is included at no cost and dental insurance is available. Eligible employees participate in the State University Retirement System, which offers medical insurance upon retirement.
