Customer Service Specialist

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for two full-time Customer Service Specialists in the Student Accounts/BursarOffice. Responsibilities include:

• Responding to inquiries and complaints regarding student accounts in order to help students and families understand their accounts and University policies.
• Explain, by both oral and written communication, Federal Perkins accounts to students.
• Process returned mail; research and update addresses based on information received from the Post Office.
• Assist international students to help them understand their account and University policies regarding their account.
• Attend orientations to present information about billing and payments.
• Work with Financial Aid, Housing, and other campus departments to resolve questions on accounts.

Requirements for this position are:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years from the following categories:
   1. college coursework in business administration, communications, public relations or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

• • • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year
    • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
    • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years
    • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years

            B. Responsible work experience in customer services, public relations, office administration, business and financial                                operations, healthcare administration or other closely related experience.

    3.  One (1) year of work experience comparable to that gained as a Customer Service Representative.

The Civil Service Examination for this classification is a credentials assessment.  No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from qualified applicants.
