Individuals who fall into any of the categories noted below cannot help residents move out.

  • Anyone who has tested positive for or exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 or other respiratory/flu-like illness
  • Older adults (65+)
  • People who have serious underlying medical conditions such as:
    • Heart Disease
    • Diabetes
    • Lung disease
    • Asthma
    • HIV/AIDS
    • Women who are pregnant

Students and all helpers must come prepared with cleaning supplies, antibacterial wipes, masks and gloves to wear while moving out of their room to help protect yourself and others.

    • Bring a cart or dolly with you.
    • Limit the number of people in an elevator.  Only members of your moving party should ride the elevator together.
    • Able-bodied individuals not pushing a cart are asked to take the stairs

After I have scheduled my checkout, what are the move out steps?

You should plan to complete all these steps prior to your scheduled check-out time.

Step 1:  Pack your belongings and clear everything out of your room. Everything must be taken with you or put in the dumpster. No more than 2 persons should assist you in moving out, no more than 2 hours prior to your scheduled check-out appointment.

Your Belongings:

  • All items must be removed from your room – you must take everything with you or put things in the trash. There will not be donation stations available.
  • You will need to provide your own plastic bins or boxes for transporting your belongings.
  • You should bag and remove all trash to the appropriate outside containers. A limited number of additional trash bags may be available in the lobby.
  • On-campus storage is not available. If you cannot take your items home, you must secure your own off-campus storage.

Step 2: Return your room furniture to the bunk configuration and the room arrangement according to the instructions in the room layouts below.

Step 3: Clean your room. Wipe down desk/dressers/all furniture and vacuum carpets. Remove sticky tack, tape, etc. off walls.

Step 4: Find your staff member at your scheduled check-out time. All people helping you pack should be out of the building at this time. Your staff member will come to your room to view it and confirm you’ve moved everything out. You will sign the check-out envelope and lock your door as you leave the room. Place your keys into the envelope and give it to your staff member.
