Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for one full-time Library Specialist position in Booth Library. This position is a split position working in both the Ballenger Teachers Center, which houses teaching materials and the juvenile through young adult literature collection, and the Center for Student Innovation, which has modern technology for faculty and student use, and technology equipment checkout. The person in this position is responsible for managing the service desk, supervising student workers, assisting patrons, processing materials, and assisting with programming events, including events for children and events showcasing library technology. This position will give instruction to faculty and students in utilizing the available technology; maintain equipment inventory and monitor equipment for damages or lost parts; bill fines and fees; and collaborate with the Director of Faculty Development and the Digital Initiatives Coordinator on projects and instruction.

The work schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday, 1:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. The Summer schedule, when classes are in session, may have a slight adjustment. When the library is on a reduced schedule (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.), this position will work 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
The Civil Service examination for this position is a credentials assessment. No participation other than the submission of application materials is required from qualified applicants.
