Assistant Professor in Public Health: Community Health

Eastern Illinois University is pleased to invite applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Public Health & Nutrition - Public Health: Community Health. This position is a full-time, tenure track appointment comprised of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses across all degree programs while conducting discipline-specific research and/or creative activity and providing service to the University. Courses to be taught may include but are not limited to: epidemiology (graduate & undergraduate), personal health, community health, human sexuality, health literacy, research methods. Opportunities to develop expertise-specific elective courses as well as supervise departmental honors student scholarship.

Starting Date: August 16, 2023

Qualifications: Earned a doctorate in Community Health, Public Health, Health Education, Health Sciences or related field, from an accredited institution (ABD candidates are encouraged to apply; doctoral degree completed by starting date is preferred). Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in collaborative teams that include other health-related disciplines, such as exercise science, nursing, social work, and healthcare leadership, are essential. Must have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated proficiency in college teaching (graduate teaching assistant teaching acceptable); membership and involvement in professional organizations; record of research experience and peer-reviewed publications. Preference will be given to the candidates with a minimum of three years teaching experience in a university or 3 years’ experience in a community or public health agency. Training/experience in epidemiology/infectious disease management a plus.
