Assistant Professor in Nutrition & Dietetics

Eastern Illinois University is pleased to invite applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Nutrition and Dietetics program, Department of Public Health and Nutrition. This position is a full-time, tenure track appointment to teach undergraduate and graduate dietetics courses in our ACEND-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs while conducting discipline-specific research and/or creative activity and providing service to the University.

In addition, the successful candidate will serve as the MS/DI Dietetic Internship Coordinator, responsible for recruiting strong students/future nutrition & dietetics professionals to complete the MS Nutrition & Dietetics: Dietetic Internship option; mentoring DPD students as they seek out and apply for dietetic internships and graduate school; developing policies and procedures to effectively manage all components of the program; and maintaining program accreditation.

Starting Date: August 16, 2023

Qualifications: Earned a doctorate in nutrition, dietetics, or related field, from an accredited institution (ABD candidates are encouraged to apply; doctoral degree completed by starting date is preferred).

Must be a registered dietitian nutritionist as recognized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, with a minimum of three years of professional experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist, and be willing to become a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in collaborative teams that include other health-related disciplines, such as exercise science, nursing, social work, and healthcare leadership, are essential. Must have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience and/or familiarity with the ACEND accreditation standards; demonstrated proficiency in college teaching (graduate teaching assistant teaching acceptable); evidence of successful academic advising; membership and involvement in professional organizations; record of research experience and peer-reviewed publications.
