Broadcasting Engineer- WEIU Radio-TV Program

Eastern Illinois University is seeking qualified candidate for the position of Broadcasting Engineer for the WEIU Radio-TV Program. This position will Perform technical tasks such as installing, operating, and maintaining broadcasting equipment for TV and radio.

Successful candidates should have knowledge of/ experience with:

• Remote broadcast operations,
• Familiarity with Ross video switchers and control software products,
• Experience with a Newsroom environment,
• Equipment tagging, and live event coverage.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work on ladders.  
• Experience maintaining computers and basic Ethernet networking.
• Knowledge of audio & video electronics.
• Ability to work with hand tools and test equipment.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is a credentials assessment. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from qualified applicants.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen months (18 months) from the categories below:
3. course work in broadcast engineering or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
   • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
   • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
4. work experience as a broadcasting engineer or closely related experience.
