The events of the past two months have forced all of us to make some monumental changes to our everyday lives, and to ensure we’re all doing our part to take care of those around us in these unique times. Many of those adjustments – including social distancing and mask wearing – are likely to continue into the foreseeable future as the world continues to adapt and respond to COVID-19.
All continuing and incoming EIU students with housing and dining contracts will be provided single-room occupancy during the 2020-21 academic year at no additional cost.
There is no additional charge for single occupancy rooms for the 2020-21 academic year.
We will assign you to rooms as close together as possible.
We will do our best to honor your choice in buildings that you listed in your Room and Board Contract. Some buildings are very popular and harder to get into. If you aren’t placed into one of your top 4 building choices, it’s because the building was full when we got to your name.
Assignments are made first for returning students who completed an Early Bird Contract during the Fall 2019 semester, then for all returning students and then new students based on the date in which the $50 Housing Application Fee was paid.
The rooms will remain in their double occupancy configuration having two sets of furniture. All university furniture will need to remain in the room/suite or apartment.
We are planning on offering the themed floors and programs such as the Freshman Connection in Lawson Hall, Honors floors in Thomas Hall, and Roosevelt Leadership Institute in Pemberton Hall as planned.
Requests for change in assignment will be accepted AFTER the assignment letters are mailed out. We will use the current information you submitted in your Room and Board Contract when making your assignment.
We anticipate sending assignment letters around June 15. For students who sign a contract after this date, assignment letters will be mailed on a rolling basis throughout the summer.
The $100 Housing Down Payment is due July 1.
In order to keep the density on each floor low and limit the number of students sharing the bathroom space, we will only assign roommates together if there is an extenuating circumstance. Please contact our office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You will automatically be assigned to a single occupancy room if you signed up for a Double as Single or Triple as Double. If you had a roommate request for your Triple as Double, we will do our best to assign you to rooms as close together as possible.
Stevenson hall suites will have one person assigned per bedroom, with 2 or 3 suitemates sharing the bathroom and living room area. Greek Court suites will have one person assigned per bedroom, with 2 suitemates sharing the bathroom.
Students who qualify for and contract for a unit in University Court will be assigned one student per bedroom. This means 2 students will share a common bathroom/kitchen/living room area. There is no change to the rate structure in University Court.
