Program Director-Contract Appointment

 

The program director is responsible for operation of Eastern’s contract which supplies staff to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). The director is responsible for interpreting the legal agreement with IDPH; communicating with IDPH management; coordinating the hiring and employment of staff members in cooperation with Human Resources, Benefits, and Payroll; monitoring expenditures in cooperation with accounting; preparing and modifying the budget as necessary; and other duties as assigned. The program director reports to the Dean of the Graduate School/ Vice Provost for Sponsored Research. The program director is part of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Directs Eastern’s employment of staff who serve IDPH. Submits hiring forms and works with Human Resources to assure that all candidates are qualified. Works with Benefits and Payroll to assure that all staff are following Eastern’s policies. 2. Develops budgets and budget modifications as needed, monitors the finances of the IDPH-funded program in cooperation with accounting. 3. Coordinates with IDPH management to assure that IDPH project needs are met. 4. Creates, interprets, develops, and implements policies and procedures to program workers; provides primary support to the Dean of the Graduate School/ Vice Provost for Sponsored Research 5. Serves as primary advisor to the unit administrator regarding all aspects of the IDPH-funded program. 6. Acts as the primary liaison to campus departments, including other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. 2. A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in an administrative capacity that includes at least some of the duties and responsibilities of the Program Director position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.

 

Monthly Salary $6,581.00-$6825.00

The Civil Service Examination for this classification is a credentials assessment.  No participation other than the submission of applicant materials is required from qualified applicants.
