Each year the Honors College will award several entering freshman students an Honors Award, a $3000 tuition waiver scholarship renewable for four years. This scholarship will be combined with a Commitment to Excellence award, as well as any other aid you have received. Students who have applied for a Presidential scholarship or Pemberton presidential scholarship but who have not been offered one of these scholarships will automatically be considered for this award.
All other entering freshman students who have been accepted to the Honors College (see Admissions for more information) are eligible to apply for an Honors Award.
Applications for the Honors Freshman Scholarship will be evaluated based on ACT/SAT scores, high school GPA, senior year courses, extracurricular/volunteer activities, work experience, two essays – one written for the application, and the other a high school essay representing the student’s research ability.
The scholarships are awarded by the Honors Council, which is composed of department chairs, Honors faculty, and Honors students. Only applications with an official transcript will be considered.
