Eastern Illinois University Bands Audition Schedule
The Bands at Eastern Illinois are open to all undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, one of our ensembles is open to students as well as alumni, faculty and staff. The Bands are comprised of music majors, non-music majors, and community members. The wind and percussion sections are comprised of the finest music majors in the Department of Music. The Eastern Illinois University Bands are quickly growing a reputation for the finest performances throughout the region.
Students receive academic credit for Bands participation. All performers must enroll in their specified course number. You can find these in the Course Catalog or on our Band Ensembles link. Students receive one hour of academic credit for each semester of participation. Most degree programs will accept band credit as a "free elective." We strongly encourage you to check with your department's academic advisors for details.
All students must audition for participation in the Wind Symphony. Auditions are held during the first week of each semester. Music majors, your applied instructors will be in touch with you via e-mail to distribute audition information and excerpts. Non-music majors, if you would like to audition for the Wind Symphony, please e-mail Dr. Alicia Neal for access to the audition material (email@example.com).
Depending on which band you are participating in, the Bands perform one to three times each semester in formal concerts both on and off-campus. Occasionally the Bands participate in local and regional performance and tours.
Students may also study privately for academic credit. Applied study is available for all instruments through the Department of Music. Students must have professor approval to enroll in private lessons. For more information please contact the Department of Music at:
