Tenure Track - Director of Choral Activities

The Department of Music within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Eastern Illinois University seeks a qualified individual for a full-time, tenure track position. This appointment will begin in August 2023.

Rank: Assistant Professor

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach choir, choral conducting, graduate conducting, and other courses as needed. In addition, the candidate will recruit for an established, comprehensive undergraduate and graduate music program.

Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree in Music is required, Doctorate in Music is preferred. Thirty hours of graduate study in the field beyond the Master’s degree is required for tenure. The successful candidate will be an accomplished teacher and conductor, with demonstrative success working with undergraduate students. Success working with graduate students is preferred. An engaging teaching manner and outstanding interpersonal skills for student recruitment are essential. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and promoting inclusive excellence is required.
