The College of Education at Eastern Illinois University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, Chair for the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Foundations to begin July 1, 2023 (academic rank to be determined based on qualifications). Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Education, the Chair serves as the chief administrative and academic officer of the department with primary responsibility for the leadership, supervision, coordination, and administration of programs and activities of the department in a shared governance environment. The Chair is also an integral part of the College leadership team.

The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Foundations enrolls approximately 500 students in four undergraduate majors (Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, and Career & Technical Education: Business Education, Career & Technical Education: Family & Consumer Science, and Career & Technical Education: Technology}, one Master’s degree program (Curriculum and Instruction}, MAT Program pending approval by ISBE and two certificate programs (Reading Teacher and English as a Second Language}, with approximately 20 FTE faculty and 3 staff.

Qualifications: Required qualifications include a doctorate in a discipline represented within the Department, leadership, administrative and management experience in education, excellent written communication skills, and evidence of achievement in teaching, research, and service. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead the faculty through collegial processes in the Department. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence is required.
