Human Resource Officer

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for a full-time Human Resource Officer in the Department of Human Resources.  This position is responsible for employment assistance related to Civil Service positions. Duties include:

• Responds to inquiries concerning the application process.
• Screens applications according to Civil Service requirements.
• Processes credential assessments for Civil Service classifications.
• Works with hiring departments concerning advertising open positions and Civil Service policies.
• Administers Civil Service registers and refer candidates for placement.
• Generates employee records in banner and update as needed.
• Reviews job descriptions for proper classification
• Processes tuition waivers, working with other universities as needed.

Qualified candidates must meet the following credentials:

1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Any combination totaling three years (36 months) from the following categories:

• progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human resource records and reports.
• college coursework in human resource administration, business administration, or a closely-related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

1. 30 semester hours equals one year (12 months)
2. Associate’s degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
3. 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
4. Bachelor’s degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years

The Civil Service Examination for this classification is a credentials assessment.  No participation other than the submission of applicant materials is required from qualified applicants.
