Office Manager – History Department

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for a full-time Civil Service position of Office Manager in the History Department.  This position will be responsible for general office support for the department and reports to the Chair of History. Duties for this position may include:

• Providing first point of contact in department office in phone, email, and in-person communications.
• Maintaining a calendar of appointments and events.
• Serving as liaison between the Chair and other areas of the university.
• Attending meetings and record minutes.
• Coordinating faculty textbook requests each semester.
• Coordinating arrangements for conferences, meetings, events, and travel.
• Preparing confidential documents and letters and distributing mail to department personnel.
• Maintaining records essential to the operation of the department and running reports as needed.
• Assisting chair in creating semesterly class schedule.
• Reviewing and monitoring fiscal transactions.
• Assisting with Teacher Licensure Program, MA Program, and Undergraduate Advising.
• Maintaining inventory.

Qualified candidates must be a high school graduate or equivalent and have 24 months of clerical/office support work experience comparable to that performed at the Office Support Specialist level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility.  Ability to work with diverse constituencies is essential.
