Business/Administrative Associate – Special Assistant to the VP

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for a full-time Civil Service position of Business/Administrative Associate – Special Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs.  This position will provide support to the operation of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.  The incumbent will perform administrative duties as assigned and work collaboratively with Student Affairs Directors, faculty members, students, and other administrative offices to promote student academic and personal achievement. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the Vice President for Student Affairs in addressing and coordinating resolutions to increasingly complex student issues.
  2. Handles a wide variety of sensitive and confidential assignments and projects on behalf of the Vice President.
  3. Reviews student discipline appeals and recommends appropriate action to the Vice President.
  4. Reviews textbook damage appeals and recommends appropriate action to the Vice President.
  5. Prepares routine and special reports, presentations, correspondence, issue briefings, and the Student Affairs newsletter.
  6. Researches and analyzes policy and operational issues and prepares appropriate recommendations. Develops and recommends administrative policies and procedures to increase efficiencies and maximize student learning opportunities.
  7. Assists in the administration of scholarships awarded by the Division of Student Affairs.
  8. Assists in the VPSA Division budget oversight.
  9. Assists in the coordination of special events hosted by the Vice President.
  10. Serves on committees, taskforces, and boards as assigned by the Vice President.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President.

Qualified candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, finance, or a closely related field.
  2. Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.

(NOTE: A Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.).

The Civil Service examination for this classification is a credentials   assessment. No participation other  than submission  of application  materials is required from applicants  that  qualify to  take  the  exam. Upon successful selection of a candidate, all scores will be voided from this register.
