Instructor, Teaching, Learning and Foundations

The EIU Department of Teaching, Learning and Foundations seeks a non-tenure track faculty member (grades K-6) to teach courses such as instructional strategies for the elementary classroom; diverse contexts that influence the learning process; and assessing student learning: a field-based experience. Candidates will be expected to evaluate students in field experiences; and foster professional relationships with public school partners. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses utilizing online, on campus, or blended formats.

Successful candidates will be committed to the department mission of providing current and future educators with knowledge, skills, and dispositions to meet the challenges of today’s classroom.

Successful candidates must have familiarity with teaching, learning educational technology, and educational theories; knowledge of current state and national standards; work collegially with other members of the faculty; utilize opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration; and display professional written and oral communications skills.

Qualifications: The educational/experience requirements for this position are as follows:

Required:

• Master’s degree from an accredited university in curriculum & instruction, elementary education, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in grades K-6 public school setting
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience promoting inclusive excellence.

Preferred:

• Experience teaching at the college/university level, including supervision of pre-service field
• Experience teaching online courses
• Experience with partnerships between public schools and
