Eastern Illinois University is seeking applications and nominations for a highly motivated and experienced administrator to serve as the University’s Director of Business Services and Treasurer. The Director reports directly to the Vice President for Business Affairs and has primary responsibility for the supervision, coordination and administration of programs and activities related to the University’s fiscal operations. This position requires knowledge of and experience with higher education accounting, budgeting and financial reporting, preferably in a governmental environment, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to impart quality customer service principles into the organization.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Five years of recent applicable financial/administrative experience, with at least 3 years in a significant management and leadership role
Knowledge of financial accounting, reporting and administration
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or advanced degree in a related field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure or other certifications
Relevant professional experience in Higher Education
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing leadership in administering and coordinating all aspects of programs and activities associated with the University’s financial operations including general accounting and financial reporting; cash management; budget; accounts receivable and payable; grants and contracts; fixed asset management; bursar activities, including student loans; payroll.
Providing leadership in maintaining quality staff through recruitment, development and
Coordinating external audit activities for the University and serving as internal audit liaison for the Division.
Assisting the Vice President with budget development and assuming responsibility for the appropriate use of funds in assigned areas of responsibility.
Thorough understanding of risks and controls in business processes, ability to direct and/or conduct financial and operational audits.
Excellent organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to impart quality customer service principles into the organization.

Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Start Date: April 15, 2023, desired; appointment date negotiable.
