Library Operations Associate

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for one full-time Library Operations Associate in Booth Library. Within Circulation Services, this position assists the head of the department by scheduling, training, supervising, assisting, and evaluating the 10 civil service staff within the department. This position assists the department head and other librarians in establishing operational procedures, writing documentation, configuring systems, communicating with other libraries and library organizations, and assists in developing policies to meet the department’s future needs. The Library Operations Associate is responsible for managing all operations of the Interlibrary Loan Department within Circulation Services. This position provides service to students, staff, and faculty, in person, by phone, and by email.

Requirements for this position are:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Any combination totaling four (4) years from the following categories:

1. 1. Work experience in a library or equivalent setting.
   2. College coursework in any field as measured by the following conversion table:

• • • 30 semester hours equals on (1) year.
    • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months.
    • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years.
    • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years.

• A total of two (2) years of work experience in a library or equivalent setting performing progressively more responsible work consistent with the next lower level of this series (Senior Library Specialist).

The work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with occasional overtime.

The Civil Service Examination for this classification is a credentials assessment. No participation other than the submission of applicant materials is required from qualified applicants.
