Booth Library invites the campus and community to join us for the next Authors@EIU event on Thursday, August 28, celebrating the achievements of distinguished EIU alumnus Robert Corn-Revere, a nationally recognized First Amendment attorney and author.

This free and open to the public, presented in partnership with Doudna Fine Arts Center, celebrates the scholarly achievement of Robert Corn-Revere, Chief Counsel at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. Corn-Revere is a leading First Amendment and media law practitioner who has been a litigator of First Amendment rights for more than four decades. He is the author of The Mind of the Censor and the Eye of the Beholder: The First Amendment and the Censor’s Dilemma (Cambridge University Press, 2021).

This special evening will be a prelude to the Doudna Fine Arts Center production of I’m Not a Comedian, I’m Lenny Bruce. This traveling performance of the blockbuster LA, Chicago, and off-Broadway hit is written and performed by Ronnie Marmo and directed by Joe Mantegna. The performance examines the life and battles of the most groundbreaking and impactful comedian of all time, Lenny Bruce, whose numerous court battles championing freedom of speech have paved the way for performers including Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Sarah Silverman, and others. Please mark your calendars to attend Authors@EIU, Thursday, August 28, at 5 p.m. in Booth Library’s West Reading Room. The event will include a reception at 5 p.m. and introductory remarks at 5:30 p.m., followed by Mr. Corn-Revere’s presentation and question & answer opportunities afterward.
