Day Summer Camps

Horse-n-Around at P.E.T. 1

(Saturday, June 2nd) Ages: 6-11 9:00 a.m. until noon

Come to Paradise Equestrian Therapy Center to experience the thrill of riding a horse! Riding a horse is exhilarating and will challenge you physically and mentally, but just like any other sport, you have to learn the fundamentals of horses and riding. You can expect to come out with a basic understanding of the animals and the sport. While horses and riding is a ton of fun, there are things you should know that are important for your safety, the horse’s safety, and the safety of others riding with you. 

Registration fee is $89.00

 LEGO WeDo Robotics Camp

(June 4 - 7) Ages: 8-10   9:00 a.m. until noon

Involve yourself with engaging learning experiences in science, literacy, and math.  Use the LEGO WeDo materials to inspire problem solving and creativity! Participants will work on themed projects as well as have challenging creative time.  Great opportunity for girls and boys. 

Registration fee is $109.00.

Introduction to LEGO EV3 Robotics

(June 11 - 14) Age: 9-12 9:00 a.m. until noon

Build and program with LEGO EV3 robots.  Program the robot to move, sing, and dance!  Incorporate sensors to give the robot intelligence to make decisions.  No experience with robots or programming is expected.

Registration fee is $109.00.

Bowling: Behind the Scenes

(June 12) Age: 8-12 1:00 until 3:00 pm

Ever wondered what happens when the "pin" drops.  See behind the scenes at a bowling alley and bowl a game (or two).  Price of bowling and shoes included.

Computer Guts

(June 13) Ages: 7 - 10   1:15 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. 

This class will let children see the inside of the computer and how it works. 

Registration fee is $0.00.  Limited seating so must register.

NXT Explorer LEGO Camp

(June 18 - 21) Ages: 8 - 10   9:00 a.m. until noon

This NASA themed robotics experience puts you in the position of a engineer them tasked with designing a robot that can navigate the harsh environment of a distant planet all on its own.  Learn how to build and program robots to complete a number of movement and navigation challenges.  No prior LEGO robotics experience is necessary. 

Registration fee is $109.00

(June 20) Ages: 9 - 12   1:15 p.m. until 2:30 p.m

Create a cartoon strip using ToonDoo.  Will need flash drive to store cartoon (will be provided).

NXT Problem Solver LEGO Camp

(June 25--28) Ages: 10 - 12   9:00 a.m. until noon

Student will be designing robots in order to complete several different challenges: Drive and modify a robot to retrieve a box, Build a robot hat can store and sort colored balls, design a robot that  can get across a chasm, and more!  Prior experience with LEGO robots (either NXT or EV3) is preferred.

Beginning Engineering LEGO Camp

(June 25 - 28) Ages: 6-8   9:00 a.m. until noon

Design and build exciting projects with LEGO construction materials. You will work with levers, gears, pulleys, and wheels to make cars, catapults, and more. There will be time each day for both individual creative challenges and team projects. Great opportunity for girls and boys!  

Registration fee is $109.00.

Intermediate Engineering LEGO Camp

(July 9 - 12) Ages: 8-10 9:00 a.m. until noon

Work with LEGO construction materials to design and build exciting projects.  Explore simple machines, motors, gears, and motion.  There will be individual creative challenges and team projects.  Great opportunity for girls and boys.

Residential Summer Camps 

Summer Art Camp

(July 15th – July 21st)  Ages: High School Students   

Join us for a week-long EIU summer Art Experience! Eastern’s Summer Art Camp is your opportunity to meet other people who are passionately creative, try your hand at using new art media, expand your creativity, and experience campus life in the EIU Residence Halls. Classes for 2018 include: Drawing fundamentals; Puppet design and fabrication; Watercolor painting; and Graphic design.  Additional evening activities including Drawing with Jenny Chi and Creating and Editing a video using a cell phone with Dave Richardson. 

The cost is $499.00.
