Day Summer Camps

Horse-n-Around at P.E.T. 1

(Saturday, June 11th) Ages: 6-11 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Come to Paradise Equestrian Therapy Center to experience the thrill of riding a horse! Riding a horse is exhilarating and will challenge you physically and mentally, but just like any other sport, you have to learn the fundamentals of horses and riding. You can expect to come out with a basic understanding of the animals and the sport. While horses and riding is a ton of fun, there are things you should know that are important for your safety, the horse’s safety, and the safety of others riding with you.  Registration fee is $89.00

Horse-n-Around at P.E.T. 1 PM

Beginning Engineering LEGO Camp

(June 13th – June 16th) Ages: 6-8   9:00 a.m. until noon

Design and build exciting projects with LEGO construction materials. You will work with levers, gears, pulleys, and wheels to make cars, catapults, and more. There will be time each day for both individual creative challenges and team projects. Great opportunity for girls and boys!  Registration fee is $99.00.

Introduction to LEGO Mindstorms Robotics

(June 13th – June 16th) Age: 9-14 9:00 a.m. until noon

Build and program with LEGO Mindstorms robots.  Program the robot to move, sing, and dance!  Incorporate sensors to give the robot intelligence to make decisions.  No experience with robots or programming is expected. Registration fee is $99.00.

Intermediate Engineering LEGO Camp

(June 20th – June 23rd) Ages: 8-10 9:00 a.m. until noon

Work with LEGO construction materials to design and build exciting projects.  Explore simple machines, motors, gears, and motion.  There will be individual creative challenges and team projects.  Great opportunity for girls and boys.  Registration fee is $99.00.

LEGO Mayan Adventure

(June 27th – June 30th) Ages: 9-14 9:00 a.m. until noon

This is an intermediate level LEGO Mindstorm NXT robotics camp for students with prior building/programming experience. Students will be constructing various NXT robots to complete multiple tasks throughout the week in a Mayan Adventure. Robots will use sensors to follow mazes, avoid tripping traps in the tomb, move objects and zip line across the room! Previous experience with NXT robotics is required.  Registration fee is $99.00.

Involve yourself with engaging learning experiences in science, literacy, and math.  Use the LEGO WeDo materials to inspire problem solving and creativity! Participants will work on themed projects as well as have challenging creative time.  Great opportunity for girls and boys.  Registration fee is $99.00.

Advanced Engineering LEGO Camp

(July 18th – July 21st) Ages: 10-13   9:00 a.m. until noon

Engage in open-ended design challenges using LEGO construction materials. You will learn about the engineering design process and harness your creative energies to combine motors, gears, pulleys and other simple machines to achieve complex results. Registration fee is $99.00.

Residential Summer Camps 

Spanish Immersion Camp

(June 26th - July 1st)  Ages:  High School Students

What would YOU like to do during your residential summer camp experience?  Play some soccer or basketball?  Do some arts and crafts?  Cook a new dish?  How about doing all of these fun activities in Spanish while living on a college campus? Join us June 26-July 1 for a week of Spanish language immersion and cultural experiences you will never forget on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois!  All students who will be in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in fall 2016 and who have had at least one year of high school Spanish are welcome.

Summer Art School

(July 17th – July 23rd)  Ages: High School Students   

Join us for a week-long EIU summer Art Experience! Eastern’s Summer Art School is your opportunity to meet other people who are passionately creative, try your hand at using new art media, expand your creativity, and experience campus life in the EIU Residence Halls. Classes for 2016 include: Altered books, printmaking, Painting, and Sculpture. The cost is $485.00.

English Students Camp

(July 24th - July 30th)  Ages:  High School Students

Eastern Illinois University will host the English Studies Summer Camp July 24-30, 2016. We look forward to welcoming high school students who share our love of reading and writing for years to come. This one-week camp allows students to hone their English skills while providing them with a chance to sample life on a college campus and meet peers with similar interests. Offering courses that reflect students’ interests, our engaged faculty and tranquil setting provide that perfect opportunity for students to have an academically charged summer getaway where they can grow as readers, writers, debaters, and English scholars!
