Amtrak Service- Reservations will be available Fall 2025

The Panther Shuttle is offering transportation to and from the Mattoon Amtrak Depot for fall 2025. Reservation link will open soon (seats are limited) for transportation to and from the Amtrak station depot in Mattoon, Illinois

To secure your seat, complete and submit the reservation form. Upon confirmation, an email with all your important trip details will be sent to you.

Please be aware that shuttle timings are contingent on capacity, traffic and weather conditions, and there may be occasional delays. Keep in mind that services are reserved for confirmed reservations, as capacity is limited.

Weekday Service

  • Monday - Friday: 7:30 am - 3:00 pm Day Bus (13) Stops approx every 20-40 minutes*
  • Monday - Friday: 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm Evening Bus (13) Stops approx every 20-40 minutes*

Weekend Service

  • Saturday : 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm (13) Stops approx every 40 minutes*
  • Sunday :   3:00 pm - 9:00 pm (13) Stops approx every 40 minutes*

*Delays possible during winter weather, heavy traffic, or if only 1 bus is operating the route

2024-2025 Holiday Schedule:

Spring 2025  (No routes on the following holidays)

  • MLK Birthday : Monday, January 20

  • Licoln's Birthday : Friday, February 14

  • Spring Break: Regular Shuttle service will end at 3 pm on Friday, March 14 and resume on Monday, March 24

  • Summer Break: Shuttle service will end at 3 pm on Friday, May 9.

Panther Express Policies

  • All passengers may be required to display an EIU ID.

  • Drivers maintain the right to deny entry or ask an individual to leave the bus.

  • No smoking, alcohol, pets or bikes are allowed on the bus.

  • No weapons are allowed on the bus.

  • EIU is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • Bus schedule may vary in unforeseen conditions.

  • Driver may not stop if no passengers are present at stops or if the bus is full.

  • The front door of the bus is the only exit.

  • The bus will stop at designated stops. Please do not ask the driver to stop at a location that is not designated.

The shuttle schedule will change on holidays and during academic breaks.
