About the Online BA in Psychology
Degree Completion Program
The Psychology department offers a selection of online courses that fulfill the requirements for the psychology major, typically in two years. Our online degree completion program is best suited for a student who has completed an Associate’s degree (or at least some college), Introductory Psychology, and College Algebra (or Elementary Statistics).
It is possible to complete the psychology major entirely online. The majority of the other coursework required for graduation may also be completed online or by taking some courses at a local community college (CC) and transferring the credit to EIU; we particularly encourage our 2-semester Foreign Language requirement (waived if 2 years of a foreign language were completed in high school) be completed at a local CC and transferred to EIU.
Students in the online degree completion program have the same opportunities to participate in internships and other integrative learning experiences. The program provides the same quality and content as face-to-face classes. On their transcripts, students receive their "BA in Psychology" (the same as on-campus students).
For a detailed explanation of the program and other requirements, please see the Frequently Asked Questions and the Degree Requirements.
