EIU 1111 or University Foundations, is a first year level class that explains the ins and outs of collegiate life. It is an excellent way to bridge the gap and make the transition from high school to life at a university level. All of these classes are taught in the residence halls and are often taught by housing staff members.
For students wanting to cook an occasional meal or snack, cooking facilities are available in each hall.
Front desks, conveniently located within Andrews, Lawson, Taylor, Thomas, McKinney, Pemberton and Stevenson Halls, as well as in the NPHC House in Greek Court, provide a valuable resource for students living on campus. They are open until midnight, provide information, receive room repair requests and package delivery. They can also act as a point of contact in case of emergencies.
The following services are available at the front desk to all students: change, stamps, pool sticks and balls, cleaning supplies, vacuums, sporting equipment, board games, tools, and magazines.
On-campus phone service includes free local calls, call waiting, caller ID, speed dialing and voice mail. For more information, please see the Telecommunications website.
