Payment for Services Rendered
The EIU Medical Clinic operations are contracted to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Systems. Students enrolled in on-campus academic programs are assessed an a Health and Counseling Services Fee based on the number of semester hours they are taking each semester, allowing them access to the clinic, and the majority of clinic services without a co-pay or door fee. Some supplemental charges, as labs, x-rays, durable medical equipment and co-pays for psychiatric care, women's health, men's health, immunizations, etc. are billed directly to the student's account.
Although managed by Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Systems, the SBL-EIU Medical Clinic does not bill for any 3rd party insurance. Any charges incurred are billed directly to the student's EIU Account. Students may request a walkout/billing statement that they may submit to thier 3rd party insurance for reimbursement. EIU Student Insurance does not provide coverage for services rendered at the SBL-EIU Medical Clinic.
Excuses from Class
- The Sarah Bush Lincoln (SBL) - EIU Student Medical Clinic will not provide medical excuses for students who are not seen at the time of illness. If a provider deems that a student's diagnosis is significant enough to disrupt academic participation and attendance, the Medical Provider may choose to have an absence notification sent via EIU Email through the Registrar's Office to the student's faculty members. The notice faculty members recieve indicates the student's name, E Number, who has originated the absence notification, the date in which the absence has started, and if known, and anticipated absence end date. Only the student's faculty members can excuse a student from class, academic expectations, work or create alternative assignments or accomodations, unless prior accomodations for approved disabilities have been granted from the Office of Accessibility and Accomodations.
