What do I do if there is a hold on my account?

If you know who placed the hold, contact that department.

You can view holds in your PAWS account:
Go to PAWS
Click on the "Student" tab
Then, go to "Student Account" link
Click on the "View Hold" link

Accessing Library Resources Online

Did you know that the EIU library (Booth Library) offers assistance for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week? Off-campus students who need instruction on how to use electronic resources can contact a librarian for help by going to http://www.library.eiu.edu then clicking on Ask a Librarian (located on the left-hand side under the “Help” section).

For an online tutorial on how to locate a single article or to gather information for a class paper, go to www.library.eiu.edu/instruction/

 

Online training resource - lynda.com

EIU's faculty, staff, and students have free access to online training!

lynda.com's library contains more than 53,000 video tutorials. Topics include Adobe applications, Microsoft Office, open source software, Macintosh applications, multimedia, Web design, programming and more.

To access Lynda.com, go to http://www.eiu.edu/lynda/ and select Create a new account. You must create your account using a computer on campus within Eastern's IP range.

If you are never on campus, select Off Campus at http://www.eiu.edu/lynda/ for account creation directions. Once your profile is created, you will be able to access Lynda.com from any Internet connection.

How do I access my user ID and password?

New BGS students can receive their ID and Password from an academic advisor in the BGS office, 217-581-5618. Students who previously attended Eastern and are now returning after a brief absence, can call the School of Continuing Education's Technical Assistance at 217-581-7227 for ID and Password information. Please have your E number handy when you place the call, as Cheryl will need it in order to provide assistance.
