PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF PROGRAM ANALYSIS STEERING COMMITTEE
Eastern Illinois is an excellent university, excelling in many areas. We have a strong tradition of stewardship and wise investment in academic and support programs that have enabled us to perform our mission with distinction.

We recently completed a strategic plan designed to help us continue on a path to greatness. We looked at our mission and our responsibilities to our students and to the state of Illinois. We re-affirmed our commitment to fulfill our academic mission, mindful of the public interest.

We now need to begin a process of analysis of our programs to ensure that we have a university that is financially sustainable in the foreseeable financial environment. By carefully looking at the resources we have and can generate, and analyzing all of our programs, we will use our resources as wisely as possible.

Accordingly, I am appointing a steering committee, to include representatives from shared governance groups, to lead and coordinate the effort, to culminate in a report next May. The committee membership and the charge to the committee will be announced next week in the University Newsletter. The committee in its work will use multiple means of communication to engage the university.

PARKING, TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ANNOUNCED FOR HOMECOMING PARADE

Closures will begin as early as 3 a.m. Saturday. For a full list of streets and parking lots affected, please click here. Vehicles parked in violation of these parking restrictions will be towed at the owners' expense.

The university appreciates the cooperation of the EIU and Charleston community in helping make the parade a positive experience for all.

CAMPUS SECURITY MASTER PLAN
EIU has contracted with exp US Services, a firm that specializes in electronic security, to develop a Campus Security Master Plan for the university. The consultants are currently conducting a campuswide survey to collect information required to develop the plan. Over the next several weeks, exp will compile these data and will then present their findings and recommendations to a steering committee for review. A draft Campus Security Master Plan will be presented to the university community and, when completed, to the Board of Trustees. The presentation to the university community will outline the process used to develop the plan and explain how the Campus Security Master Plan will be used on a phased basis to improve security systems on campus.
