First and foremost, we offer an excellent education.
We take pride in having some of the very best programs – rigorous enough to challenge the best students, but with great support and encouragement to help ensure success.
The Transfer Relations Office is available to answer questions, provide assistance, and set your mind at ease about transferring to Eastern Illinois University. Our services are offered to all students, community college and university professionals, and EIU faculty and staff.
Our beautiful 320-acre campus is spacious enough to provide a great university atmosphere, but compact enough that you won't ever feel lost in the shuffle.
Our 15:1 student/faculty ratio ensures you will get the attention & hands-on experience you deserve. We offer 50 different undergraduate majors, and our average class size is 17 students.
The campus is home to a vibrant and active student life. We have 200 registered student organizations as well as 25 fraternities and sororities. We have 21 NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports, and our students have received national recognition for outstanding community service projects.
We deliver one-on-one learning experiences in state-of-the-art facilities such as Booth Library, the Sustainable Energy Center and the Doudna Fine Arts Center. We enrich your classroom education with professional internships, undergraduate research, and study abroad experiences that will help you secure employment and/or graduate school enrollment.
Transferring to a university from a community college or other four-year school can seem daunting; it's a whole new environment to which you must adjust quickly!
EIU offers an outstanding education in a personal, welcoming environment. Our faculty and staff really care about what you do in and out of the classroom. We want you to have experiences that will help develop you into being the best person for a job, not just someone with a diploma. We do this through hands-on learning, internships, job shadowing, study abroad opportunities, extracurricular activities and instruction from some very dedicated faculty.
At Eastern Illinois University we are sized for your success. As a student on our campus, you are not just a number. You are seen, you are heard, and you are welcome. The college search process may be difficult at times, but I'm here to help you. My advice would be to take the time to see our campus, meet with a counselor, and soak in the wonderful atmosphere that EIU has to offer. Looking forward to seeing you at EIU!
