University Court Apartments

UNIVERSITY COURT APARTMENTS

University Court offers spacious two bedroom furnished apartments, (room layouts) more personal privacy, cooking facilities, with 1 or 1 1/2 baths. You have all the conveniences of off campus and all the amenities of living on campus that include free extended basic cable service, trash removal, free basic phone service, and personal identification numbers for long distance phone billing.

All apartments are smoke-free in accordance with the Smoke Free Illinois Law .

A pool is available for use by University Court residents between June 1 and October 1. University Court buildings are securely locked at all times. An upperclass parking permit is required for parking. Meal plans are available through the Panther Dining Services Office to suit your needs.

Requirements for residency at University Court Apartments.

1. To qualify for the Sophomore Underclassman building you must have 30 to 59 semester hours and be under 21 years old for the school year.


OR

2. To qualify for the other buildings available you must have 60+ semester hours or will become 21 years old during the school year.

We have five different rental rates ranging for 2, 3, or 4 people per apartment. All University Housing rules and policies apply at University Court. Housing contracts are signed at the University Court Office by appointment only. Beginning February 1st, on campus students can make appointments to view apartments and sign contracts for Fall. Students now living off campus and new students to campus may make appointments beginning March 1st, to sign their Fall contracts. A security deposit ($75.00 for on campus students and $125.00 for off campus/new students) is required at the time the contract is signed. Office Hours

Office hours for University Court are from 9 - 12 noon and from 1:00 - 4:30p.m., Monday through Friday. If there is an emergency after hours, please contact 581-6655 to reach the staff member on duty.

University Court Apartment Manager

The University Court Apartment Manager is a full-time, live-in staff member responsible for the overall operation of an apartment complex housing approximately 550 students. The Apartment Manager has an office located in the University Court Complex.

University Court Associate Resident Director

The University Court Associate Resident Director assists the Apartment Manager with the responsibility for an apartment complex housing approximately 550 students. Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to, administration, counseling, assisting with the coordination of maintenance and repairs, and coordination of apartment assignments.

Policies and Leasing Information

1. You must have completed 30 credit hours or be 21 years old to reside at University Court.

2. You must have desired number of roommates (2, 3, or 4) to fill lease option available. We do not help find your roommates.

3. Lease options and copy of contract are available at the University Court office (by the swimming pool). All persons must read the contract before signing.

4. You must make an appointment to see University Court staff person. All roommates must be present. All persons must bring a drivers license when lease is signed and all security deposits are required when lease is signed. Persons living in U. Ct. may a sign new lease in January. Persons living in the residence halls and Greek Court may sign in February. (Call the last week in January to make your appointment.) New students and off-campus students may sign in March. (Call the last week of February to make your appointment.)

5. Utilities provided by university: pin # system, no monthly charge for local calls - basic cable - trash removal. Utilities not provided by university: your long distance phone calls, water and electric. Connection forms are available at University Court office. Drivers license required.

6. Services offered at University Court desk:
sweepers, work requests, change, copy machine, stamps, lock-outs (during office hours), laundry facilities in each building, an emergency phone number after 4:30pm, and a meal ticket plan is offered through dining services.

7. Security deposit requirement: additional $75.00 for on campus persons. $125.00 if no housing deposit is presently on file. All deposits are due at time of signing the contract.

8. Parking permits available through university police dept. University Court parking is considered upper classmen and an upperclass sticker is required for this lot. Therefore, if you are a sophomore, parking will be available with your underclassmen sticker at the 9th street parking lot.

9. Alcohol policy: Must be 21 for beer and wine in quantities less than a gallon. No hard alcohol or kegs are allowed for anyone. No underage drinking.

10. As with any University Housing facility, pets are not allowed with the exception of fish. Also, grills are not allowed on the balconies. For other University Court policies and procedures please refer to your University Court Handbook.

Rental Rate Information

Lease Period-August 21, 2008 - May 8, 2009

Security deposit: $100 plus $25 non-refundable application fee. Paid when lease is signed. Students with a deposit on file with the housing office are required to pay a balance of $75.

Utilities: included in contract are:
  • Basic campus cable service
  • Trash removal
  • Basic phone service (instrument not included)
  • Three hook-ups for Internet

"Eastern Illinois University" should not be used in any address as this will delay delivery. If mail is not addressed correctly, it may be delayed or returned to the sender.

Mail is delivered to University Housing facilities each day, except Sundays and U.S. Postal Service Holidays. The mailbox combination or key is issued to students at the time of check-in. Those students who have roommates will share the mailbox with their roommates.
