EIU Student Life Office

A MESSAGE FROM THE STUDENT LIFE OFFICE

The Student Life Office strives to promote, complement and enrich the EIU students’ experience outside the classroom by providing social, cultural, and educational programming, celebrating diversity and inclusion, providing opportunities for leadership development, and student involvement.

The Student Life Office at EIU is closely monitoring the emerging public health concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Although university offices are closed until further notice, the Student Life Office remains open, while adopting social distancing guidelines and offering remote ways to provide its services and programs to the EIU community. Though Student Life staff and students are working remotely, please know that we are committed to providing the same level of service in on-line formats, while doing our part to keep the EIU community safe and connected!

During these challenging times, the Student Life Office will strive to provide the EIU community with ”virtual” access to a variety of resources, services, activities/programs through its “newest” feature – The “Virtual Activities” Toolbox”The Virtual Activities Toolbox will be updated as new virtual resources, services activities and programs become available.

The Student Life Office is a department within the Office of Student Programs, dedicated to helping students "make things happen."

Through various programs and services, it is our mission to provide a variety of co-curricular experiences designed to enrich the social, cultural, educational, and personal development of EIU students; promote student leadership, civic responsibility and respect for diversity; empower and encourage EIU students to reach their full potential in a student-centered, supportive environment. Our trained, professional staff works collaboratively and is dedicated to the personal growth, development, and success of students within the EIU community.

The Student Life Office takes administrative responsibility for student government, campus entertainment (University Board), multicultural programming, leadership support services, and more than 200 registered student organizations, all designed to promote leadership opportunities, innovative programs, and meaningful relationships outside the classroom.

Annual programs and events include Quakin' the Quad, First Night, Homecoming Week, Family Weekend, major concerts, Pantherpalooza, MBEIU Pageant, Up All Nite, Pantherstock, and the iLEAD workshop series.

Our office provides numerous services and programs aimed toward assisting EIU students, and we encourage them to take advantage of these countless opportunities as they explore their personal interests, learn new skills, take on leadership roles, join student organizations, and meet new friends!
