About the Miss Black EIU Scholarship Pageant

The Black Student Union at Eastern Illinois University has been the proud sponsor of the annual Miss Black EIU Scholarship Pageant for five decades. The Miss Black EIU Scholarship Pageant is the most celebrated cultural tradition held in conjunction with African American Heritage Month.

Since its inception in 1971, the Miss Black EIU Scholarship Pageant has provided a cultural experience that celebrates African American culture, heritage, and experiences. Throughout the years, it has empowered African American women while instilling a sense of pride, appreciation and cultural awareness. Many Black women have accepted the challenge of competing for the crown and honor of representing Eastern's Black community as the next Miss Black EIU.
