The Ghanaian Student Association (GSA) at Eastern Illinois University exists to promote unity, cultural awareness, and mutual support among Ghanaian students and the wider campus community. The organization seeks to celebrate Ghana’s rich heritage through educational, cultural, and social events that foster understanding and appreciation of Ghanaian traditions, values, and history.
GSA also aims to create a welcoming community for new and continuing students from Ghana, helping them adjust to academic and social life at EIU through mentorship, collaboration, and engagement. In addition, the Association strives to build meaningful relationships with other student organizations, international groups, and university departments to encourage intercultural dialogue and global citizenship.
Through its programs and initiatives, the Ghanaian Student Association upholds the principles of respect, diversity, and excellence, thus contributing positively to the mission and vibrancy of Eastern Illinois University.
