On Monday, February 23 at 5:30 p.m., EIU's Black Student Union and Booth Library will co-host a FREE documentary screening of Colors of Love: The Jan Spivey Gilchrist Story in the Library's Center for Student Innovation. Join us for a screening of the rich and compelling memoir of one of America's greatest children's book authors and illustrators.
Later the same week, join us for an evening with Dr. Gilchrist, the featured guest at our next Authors@EIU event, February 25 at 5 p.m. in the Library's West Reading Room, where she will present and discuss Making Books for ALL Children: A Celebration of My Life's Work.
EIU Alumna Jan Spivey Gilchrist is an award-winning fine artist and illustrator with more than 109 books to her credit and a career spanning more than 25 years. Her work has been exhibited worldwide. Dr. Gilchrist has illustrated many acclaimed books and received numerous, notable distinctions. Her work has been featured on national television and reviewed in major publications.
