Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training Information

Health & Counseling Services in partnership with individuals from various departments across campus, are proud to offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to students/staff/faculty here on EIU’s campus. Similar to CPR helping assist individuals having a heart attack, MHFA can help someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis.

Created by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, this training will help individuals gain knowledge of signs/symptoms/risk factors of mental illness and addictions, identify professional and self-help resources for individuals, increase confidence and likelihood to assist an individual in distress, and show increased mental wellness themselves.

At this point, there are limited funds to offer this training to groups or individuals for FREE at NO COST. If you have an interest in signing up for a training, either as an individual or for a group/department, please fill out the machform.at www.eiu.edu/mentalhealth/Mentalhealthfirstaid.php. There you can also find more information about mental health efforts on campus and our machform to notify us of your interest in training.

Should you have any additional questions regarding this or our open sessions/trainings please do not hesitate to reach out to the HERC offices at 217-581-7786 or herc@eiu.edu.
