EIU now has an “Emergency Assistance Fund” for currently enrolled students to cover expenses that are unexpected and posing significant barriers to schooling. The funding helps support students experiencing housing challenges, as well as childcare and food insecurity. Offering financial help to students on a one-time basis, and generally up to a limit of $1,000, the funding is not for ongoing expenses. All applications are carefully considered. Award of funding is not guaranteed and is determined on an individual basis. This program is supported through an Illinois Board of Higher Education grant.
