EIU Counseling Clinic

Making an Appointment

Who's Eligible for Services?

All undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at Eastern Illinois University are eligible to receive services at the Counseling Clinic. Services are free, voluntary, and confidential.

How Do I Make an Appointment?

**If you are interested in services, please call our office at 217-581-3413.

You can also stop by our office during business hours. We are located on the first floor of the Human Services Building. Our receptionist will be happy to assist you in making an appointment. Appointments can normally be scheduled within a week or two from your request but may take longer during the Counseling Clinic's busiest times. If it is assessed to be an emergency, you will be offered a more immediate appointment.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

With the exception of the Group Counseling program and the Initial consultation appointment, the Counseling Clinic's appointments are set up on an hourly basis. Appointments are normally scheduled between 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students will determine a plan with their counselor on how frequent you will meet.

What should I expect when I come in?

Your first meeting will be a Consultation Appointment. In this appointment, we will ask you to describe your concerns and then we will create an individualized plan for you.  In this appointment, we will explore resources on and off campus, provide your with self-help resources and/or teach you new skills. In the event the Counseling Clinic cannot meet your treatment needs, a counselor will assist you with a referral for services to meet your needs.
