EIU Testing and Evaluation

Submitting Your Scores

If you have taken the ACT or SAT, you may submit your official scores to EIU, which will use your highest score for placement.

  • Some majors include required math courses. However, if you can demonstrate sufficient mathematical proficiency, you may not need to take those classes.
  • If you did not take the ACT or SAT, or if you prefer to use the ALEKS placement test, you will be notified that you need to complete math placement via your MyEIU checklist.
  • The ALEKS placement test can be completed online, or you may take it in person at the Testing Accommodations Center in McAfee.
  • Scores are typically available within 24 hours.
  • Students are allowed up to five attempts to improve their placement, but a learning module must be completed between each assessment.
  • To access your ALEKS account, visit go.eiu.edu/ALEKSLogin. Once you received your referral code, you can log in using your EIU net id and password.
  • For additional questions, please reach out to your advisor or contact Testing & Evaluation Operations at 217-581-1185.
