Front Desk
Front desks, conveniently located within Carman, Andrews, Lawson, Taylor, Thomas, McKinney, Pemberton and Stevenson Halls, as well as in the NPHC House in Greek Court, provide a valuable resource for students living on campus. They are open until midnight, provide information, receive room repair requests and package delivery. They can also act as a contact in case of emergencies.
The following services are available at the front desk to all students: change, stamps, pool sticks and balls, cleaning supplies, and vacuums. Residents can purchase an optional activity card which makes available to them additional services that are purchased with this optional fee. These include: sporting equipment, board games, tools, and magazines. If students would like to purchase an activity card, information is available at the front desk.
Telephone Service
On-campus phone service includes free local calls, call waiting, caller ID, speed dialing and voice mail. For more information, please see the Telecommunications website
Internet Access
Ethernet connections allow on-campus residents direct access to the Internet 24-hours a day. Operating just over a T1 level, the Ethernet connections are 300 times faster than the average ISP and 3 times faster than a DSL (cable) service. The cost of a Category 6 cable and a 10-100 LAN Ethernet adapter card are the only costs associated with the on-campus connections. More info
There is wireless connections in the lobbies of all the residence halls and in the common areas in Greek Court and the classrooms in Thomas, Taylor and Carman Halls.
Wireless is also available throughout the following buildings: Lincoln, Stevenson, Douglas, and Thomas Halls. More to come in the fall of 2011.
Cable Service
The on-campus cable network provides over 80 channels of music, sports, education and entertainment. Special features include the on-campus movie channel, programmed by on-campus residents for on-campus residents, and two information channels created for the specific purpose of keeping students informed of the events that surround their daily lives.
