
(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University is proud to announce that Dr. Jeff Ashley, Professor and Undergraduate Advisor for Political Science, has been formally recognized by the Illinois State Senate of the 104th General Assembly for a quarter-century of dedicated service, academic leadership, and mentorship.
Offered by State Senator Chapin Rose and officially recorded in Senate Resolution No. 104-3095, the Certificate of Recognition commends Dr. Ashley for 25 years of unwavering dedication to EIU students and the broader university community. Signed by Senate President Don Harmon, Secretary of the Senate Tim Anderson, and Senator Rose, the commendation calls for the celebration of Dr. Ashley’s distinguished academic career while extending warm wishes for his health, happiness, and continued success.

Having served 25 years in EIU’s Department of Political Science, Dr. Ashley has played a pivotal role in shaping student outcomes. In his capacity as an undergraduate advisor, he has provided personalized academic and career guidance, connecting students with internships, study plans, and hands-on professional experiences. His teaching and scholarship in public policy and political science have consistently elevated EIU’s reputation as a premier public regional university that combines world-class academic rigor with a high level of personal mentorship. This legislative honor underscores EIU’s ongoing commitment to fostering exceptional faculty whose expertise, mentorship, and decades of public service enrich both the student body and the community at large.
Dr. Ashley received his Ph.D. from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
