(Charleston, IL) – The following public events are scheduled at Eastern Illinois University and in the Charleston community during the week of July 18-25.
Saturday, July 18
- 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. – Farmers Market on Courthouse Square
- Local growers and vendors will gather from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Charleston's historic downtown square.
- 10 a.m. – Honoring Coles County Revolutionary War Patriots
- The Coles County Genealogical Society, Coles County Historical Society, Gov. Edward Coles–Sally Lincoln DAR Chapter and the Galbreath-Mitchell family will host a program honoring Coles County Revolutionary War patriots beginning at 10 a.m. Following a presentation at the Charleston Carnegie Public Library, participants will visit several area cemeteries to honor Revolutionary War veterans. The event concludes with an optional luncheon at Ashmore Presbyterian Church.
- 1 p.m. – Voices of Freedom with Charleston Community Theatre
- Charleston Community Theatre will present Voices of Freedom at 1 p.m. in the Lincoln Log Cabin Visitor Center Auditorium. The America 250 program features dramatic readings of historic American speeches interspersed with patriotic music.
Monday, July 20
- 3:30 p.m. – Charleston Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting
- The Charleston Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will meet beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Tuesday, July 21
- 12:05 p.m. – Yoga, Summer Edition
- EIU Faculty and staff are invited to participate in a guided yoga session from 12:05 to 12:50 p.m. in the Dance Studio of McAfee Gym. The class, led by Raven McBride, includes modifications for beginners and experienced participants and concludes with a brief meditation. Participants should bring a yoga mat, towel and water.
- 6:30 p.m. – Charleston City Council Meeting
- The Charleston City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Thursday, July 23
- 8 a.m. – Charleston Tree Commission Meeting
- The Charleston Tree Commission will meet beginning at 8 a.m.
- 5 p.m. – Virtual Library Information Session for New and Transfer Students
- Booth Library will host a virtual information session for new EIU and transfer students beginning at 5 p.m. Participants will learn about Library resources, services and research support available to help them succeed throughout their academic careers at Eastern Illinois University.
- 7 p.m. – Theatre in the Park: Farmer's Market the Musical
- Theatre in the Park will present Farmer's Market the Musical at 7 p.m. The family-friendly production continues throughout the weekend. The event is free with donations accepted.
Friday, July 24
- 7 p.m. – Theatre in the Park: Farmer's Market the Musical
- Theatre in the Park continues its production of Farmer's Market the Musical with a 7 p.m. performance.
Saturday, July 25
- 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. – Farmers Market on Courthouse Square
- Local growers and vendors will gather from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Charleston's historic downtown square.
- 7 p.m. – Theatre in the Park: Farmer's Market the Musical
- Theatre in the Park concludes its weekend run of Farmer's Market the Musical with a 7 p.m. performance.
