(Charleston, IL) – The following events are scheduled at Eastern Illinois University and in the Charleston community during the week of June 26 through July 2.
- Friday, June 26
- Textbook Rental Service Closed for Inventory
The Louis M. Grado Textbook Rental Service will be closed for annual inventory. The closure began June 24 and continues through June 30. During this period, business transactions cannot be conducted and the external book drop will be unavailable. Regular operations will resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 1.

- 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. – Farmers Market on Courthouse Square
Local growers and vendors will gather from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Charleston's historic downtown square.
- 1 to 4 p.m. – Mountain Dulcimer Workshop
Mike Anderson, known as "The Dulcimer Guy," will lead a mountain dulcimer workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site in Lerna. The workshop will cover skills ranging from basic strumming and tablature reading to more advanced techniques. Participants should bring their own instruments. Advance registration is required.
- 9 to 11 p.m. – Night Bugs
Fox Ridge State Park and the Urban Butterfly Initiative will host the annual "Night Bugs" program from 9 to 11 p.m. at the White Pines Shelter in Fox Ridge State Park. Visitors can observe moths, beetles and other nocturnal insects attracted by special lighting, use microscopes for close-up viewing and learn how to identify and record insects using the iNaturalist app.

- 12:05 p.m. – Yoga, Summer Edition
Faculty and staff are invited to participate in a guided yoga session from 12:05 to 12:50 p.m. in the Dance Studio of McAfee Gym. The class, led by Raven McBride, includes modifications for beginners and experienced participants and concludes with a brief meditation. Participants should bring a yoga mat, towel and water.
- Thursday, July 2
- 7:30 p.m. – Charleston Community Band Concert
The Charleston Community Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Daum Amphitheater in Kiwanis Park, located at Harrison and Division streets in Charleston. The concert is part of the band's 49th season of free summer performances, which continue weekly through July 9.
