EIU – UPI Reach Agreement on a 2-Year Extension

The University is pleased to announce that the EIU Chapter of the University Professionals of Illinois (UPI) have reached a tentative agreement for a 2-year extension of the current agreement. Today, UPI members approved the extension and the Board of Trustees will consider the agreement at their next regularly scheduled June meeting. Following Board approval, the extension will begin on August 1, 2026 and extend through July 31, 2028. Discussions on the extension began during the Spring semester and also included two memoranda of agreement focused on clarifying future potential non-renewals and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). The University appreciates the commitment and many contributions of our UPI partners to our students, mission, and entire campus community.
