(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University will offer a series of digital/online job-seeking skills workshops at regional libraries, thanks to a grant from the Illinois State Library intended to present training on topics such as determining participants’ job-related skills, basic resume development, how and where to find jobs, job search correspondence, and interview preparation. EIU’s Booth Library, College of Education, and Career Services are partnering on the grant. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
The workshops will take place at the Charleston, Effingham, Greenup, Mattoon and Sullivan public libraries at various days and times, unique to each library. Pre-registration is encouraged at each location.
The Charleston Carnegie Public Library, located at 712 Sixth Street in Charleston, will host the workshops from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays from August 17 through September 28. Interested participants can contact Library Director Chris Houchens at (217) 345-4913 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

The workshop presenters will be Bobbi Kingery, master career counselor and director of Career Services at Eastern Illinois University, and John Marr, employee relations specialist/career advisor at Eastern Illinois University.
