To our current EIU students,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe.
This year, your resilience cannot be overstated. Your hard work in helping us to mitigate COVID on campus and in our community has been phenomenal, and I thank you for your efforts.
And because of your efforts – coupled with current IDPH guidance, a rapid increase in public vaccinations, faster test results, and everyone’s continued vigilance – I want to share that EIU fully anticipates beginning its Fall 2021 semester with a comprehensive selection of primarily face-to-face classes available to all students. Additionally, we plan to offer more traditional on-campus housing, as well as a greater variety of in-person events and extracurricular activities. I am extremely confident that our Fall 2021 semester will deliver the premier residential experience so many of our current students have come to know and love.
What does this mean for you? We anticipate you will be able to share meals with old friends, make new friends in and out of the classroom, live with roommates, enjoy walks and recreational activities on our beautiful campus, and better connect with the very community that defines the Eastern Illinois University experience.
I’m sure I speak for all EIU employees in saying I look forward to welcoming you back to a more traditional campus experience in Fall 2021. We remain committed to creating phenomenal relationships with our students, delivering a top-notch education, and providing a caring, safe, and supportive community for you to live and to grow.
Check your Panthermail often for future updates, and please stay safe as we all prepare for returning to an even more robust fulfilling EIU experience together this fall.
